Talks to Local Groups

If you are a member of a community group, within a 20-mile radius of Bedford, UK and need a speaker, we may be able to help. Our talks are suitable for groups of any size, from a home setting to a community hall, daytime or evening.

We do not usually charge for the talks. Instead, we offer an opportunity to raise funds for your group, or a charity or cause of your choice by bringing along a variety of our products. We donate ten percent from any purchases made by members of your group.

Our current talks are:

How to Keep Your Family Safe in the Bathroom

This talk provides information on the potentially harmful ingredients commonly found in the products we use in our bathrooms. It includes an explanation of how these chemicals can pass through the skin and into the bloodstream. A short video is also shown, where a doctor and health practitioner further explain the risks to our health.

Healthy Eating

This talk provides valuable information on healthy eating. We hear so many conflicting views in the media on what we should and should not eat. The talk is based on a number of highly regarded studies and articles which should help to remove some of the confusion.

Your Health - Your Future

This talk provides you with information on a variety of health issues affecting everyone living in the 21st Century. It encourages the audience to take more responsibility for their own health in order to avoid many of the degenerative diseases so prevalent today.

The Fluoridation Issue

There has been much hype in the media about the benefits and potential harm from water fluoridation. This talk provides information from sources without any vested interests in the fluoridation programme, so you will be able to make up your own mind on this controversial issue.

Women’s Health

This talk covers many of the health issues affecting women of today including Breast Cancer, the Menopause, Osteoporosis and more. After the talk there will be an opportunity for members to have a mini health check which includes a blood pressure recording, urine test (if requested), and height and weight measurements.

If you have any other suggestions on health issues which your members would find helpful, please let us know.

Healthy Choices offers talks on a variety of health issues which can affect every member of the family. These are provided by a nurse with many years experience in health promotion and disease prevention.

Fund Raising Opportunity

After the talk, your members will be under no obligation to purchase any of our products but should they wish to do so, 10% from any sales will be donated to your groups’ funds or a charity or cause of your choice.*

* There are certain charities which we prefer not to support due to their close ties with certain large corporations. Please discuss this when booking your talk to ensure your chosen charity is acceptable. If you are looking for a charity to support, we recommend Bedford Hospital’s Primrose Appeal.

For more information or to book a talk, telephone Healthy Choices on 01234 851318 or fill in the online form below.
